Oven Baked Bacon Wrapped Asparagus
First I will say – I am not a bacon fanatic and wrapping everything in bacon doesn’t overly excite me.
That being said, there is a time, place & use for everything. Just as you thought roasted asparagus couldn’t get any better – you go and try it wrapped it in bacon.
Bacon Wrapped Asparagus is wonderful served with breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. Personally, topped with over easy eggs, it’s a breakfast/brunch go-to for me.
(I love eggs. With a flock of happy free range chickens & a covey of quail – I always have a surplus of the most amazing eggs ever to use. Eggs are on the menu all day over here.)
Need more bacon? Check out this thorough guide to Oven Fried Bacon. While you’re at it, check out this recipe for Flammkuchen – a German pizza loaded with bacon, onions & creme fraiche.
Ingredients & Instructions
All you need for this recipe is bacon, asparagus, salt & pepper and a bit of olive oil.
Rinse & trim the asparagus. Create bundles of asparagus, about 3-4 pieces each bundle. 4 pieces for average size asparagus, 3 pieces for thicker stalks.
Salt and pepper each bundle and wrap bacon around bundle, wrapping upwards at an angle. Spritz (or drizzle) any unwrapped areas (tips & ends) with olive oil.
Side note. Here’s the Olive Oil Sprayer I use (on Amazon). I’ve been using these bottles for over 5 years & absolutely love them. I love them so much that I buy & gift them for birthdays & holidays. I’ve tried numerous other brands over the past 20 years prior & had all of them fail within a year.
Bake for about 30 – 35 minutes. The asparagus should be tender and bacon should be browned and crisp.
If you’re serving with eggs, fry up a few eggs in butter, slide them onto your asparagus and you’re ready to eat. My keto friends & fam go nuts for this – breakfast, lunch & dinner.
Hope you enjoy!

I usually like to eat as soon as I get up, with coffee of course 🙂 I’m with you, I’m not a complete lover of bacon wrapped stuff…I just don’t get it. Bacon wrapped scallops or steak, for example…what’s with that? The bacon never gets crispy enough and I just don’t understand the appeal. Now, I could get down with this bacon wrapped asparagus ’cause the bacon gets all nice and crispy while the asparagus cooks. Looks like a delicious breakfast (or dinner), especially with those eggs! Having your own chickens must be awesome, Amanda!! I can’t even imagine-talk about fresh! Hope you have a lovely long weekend, girl 🙂

Ahhhh…coffee…the nectar of life 🙂
Yeah, I don’t get the bacon wrapping of everything. A chef friend of mine insists it’s reserved for people who overcook food – but I really think it’s just a longer lasting food trend. At times, though, it certainly has it’s uses. Like with this asparagus. And cabbage. Yum…
I LOVE having chickens. Mine act like little dogs – they’re such little sweeties and they all have their own interesting personalities. We recently had a new rooster not return home. We’ve spent hours roaming the woods looking for him – no luck. He sporadically shows up to check on the hens and then takes off. Total jerk 🙂

I have a confession that — I have never used quail eggs. Yes, that’s true. But who would so NO to this pretty looking breakfast. I will have to look for quail eggs in local grocery!
Amanda
You know what Anu, I hear that from so many people. Quail eggs aren’t popular in some countries. They’re really not that popular in The US either. I can’t buy them in a grocery store here but I can get them at local farm stands. They’re a nice treat whenever I get my hands on them 🙂
Kushi
This is something new to me. Sounds interesting and looks delicious dear!
Amanda
Thanks so much Kushi! It’s really a simple & delicious brunch 🙂
Erin @ Thanks for Cookin'!
Oh man, I don’t think I can get those adorable little quail eggs around here! The look so perfect on top of these bundles.. I’ll have to double check on my next grocery trip.
PS Great yolk porn shot up there! 😀
Amanda
Hi Erin! Aren’t they adorable!? I can’t buy quail eggs in a grocery store here (Pennsylvania) but I get them from a local farm. Laws are different (and funny) in every state, though. I LOVE all those yolk shots 🙂
Rachel @ Mesa Cooking Co.
What a fantastic breakfast! Three of my favorite things in one! Thank you for this 🙂
Amanda
Thanks so much, Rachel. This really is one of my favorite breakfasts – I love it with chicken eggs & duck eggs as well. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
Thao @ In Good Flavor
This looks phenomenal, Amanda! The quail eggs are absolutely adorable (and delicious too)!
Amanda
Thanks so much Thao! I love quail eggs – they’re a bit of a pain to crack – but worth it when you serve a teeny tiny perfect egg 🙂
Wendy
Love that presentation.

Yay! Anxiously awaiting asparagus season so I can make this! What a yummy breakfast!
Amy (Savory Moments)
These are awesome! So many delicious things in one. Quail eggs are seriously terrific – they are so cute and I grab them up when I see them at a farmers’ market! I can’t wait for asparagus season.
P~
Amanda! This is perfection! Oh, how I’d love to get my hands on some quail eggs! P~
Laura Dembowski
How awesome you cooked with quail eggs and were able to prepare them so perfectly, not an easy task even with chicken eggs.
Dana
These look awesome, Amanda! I’m the same way, I don’t really want to eat much first thing and coffee is really all I need for the first while. But healthy, quick breakies are my fave too. I’m not a huge fan of sugary/carbs for breakfast so I eat eggs or salad/leftovers more when I can. I’m not a bacon fanatic but I do love it with eggs (it doesn’t need to be wrapped in *everything*, though so many people would disagree with us haha) but I’m pretty sure I’d love this. I’ve never actually tried quail eggs, I should look for them and give this recipe a try!
